Lining: Athlete Experience Has Benefited So Far

30 years ago, he was the "Prince of gymnastics", who once won the best record in the history of men's gymnastics, but ended his sports career with a smile of failure. After 30 years, he was a leader in the business of turning losses into profits and made the old brand glow with youthful vitality. The name Lining witnessed the Chinese people's cognitive changes in competitive sports.

Not very good athletes.

Born in Liuzhou, Guangxi, he studied gymnastics at the age of 8, and was selected to the national team at the age of 18.

Gymnastics seems to him to be a gift from heaven, though it is accompanied by injuries and fears along the way, but it is also full of happiness.

"Many people say that Chinese athletes are very bitter. I can't understand. Although I cried during training, I usually forget to sleep and never feel bitter.

On the contrary, to have the opportunity to learn new things, to have competitors, all make me happy, because I really like gymnastics, for me the greatest punishment is not to let me train.

Despite his enthusiasm for gymnastics, Lining admits that he was not a "good athlete" at that time, "he took a slingshot and hit a light bulb and climbed a tall building to dig a bird's nest."

The most "bold" behavior is love in the team: "my wife and I confirmed the relationship in 1981. In fact, the team is not allowed, so we seldom had the chance to get along at that time, most of which was to go to Beihai to make a boat, and to sneak away."

In the sixth World Cup Gymnastics Championships in 1982, Lining won 6 gold medals and one bronze medal in all 7 men's events, creating the myth of World Gymnastics history, making him a real "gymnastic Prince".

With this dazzling aura, he took part in the 1984 Olympic Games in Losangeles, preparing to write history again, but it turned out to be unsatisfactory. "Although I won 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medals in the Olympic Games, the whole competition was very depressed.

The US team controlled the referee team and the atmosphere of the scene. We lost the most confident team gold medal. To the omnipotence, I was also shivering, with mistakes, and finally to win the championship on a single item.

Cruel competitive sports made Lining an idol of a generation of Chinese, and let him down from the peak of glory.

At the 1988 Seoul Olympics, Lining, 25, had made serious mistakes in rings and vault events.

This year, Lining completed the biggest pformation of his life. He left his gymnastics for 17 years, retired quietly and started again.

After retiring, Lining did a lot of things that he had never done before: running an enterprise, going to university or even playing video games, but it really made him once again the focus of the whole country and the whole world. He still appeared as an Olympic champion in the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

On the ignited ceremony of the public attention, Lining, who is 45 years old, has taken off "bird's nest" to break the psychological and physiological limitations and ignite the torch.

Lining disclosed that in order to keep secret, each training was done after a short time in the morning. It was difficult to train for a whole month, because the rope would shake and it was not easy to maintain uniform speed.

Later I tried to narrow my horizons and stare at my hands from the beginning to the end.

After 1988, before 2008, Lining's name was more influential on Chinese people in another way: in 1990, Lining sporting goods Co., Ltd. was founded and began to produce Lining sportswear. In 1992, Lining's equipment was selected as the twenty-fifth China Olympic delegation's designated award dress, which ended the use of foreign games by Chinese athletes in the Olympic Games.
