How Do You Position Yourself In The Workplace?

    WorkplacePositioningSkills

When organizing seminars for a company, I always tell the participants: "all the leaders here please raise their hands. I want to see who they are."

In most cases, they may feel nervous and have some hesitation.

They looked left and right to see who would raise their hands.

Others cast a blank look and silence.

Usually only one or two people slowly lift their hands up.

Then I would say, "great! Welcome to this seminar!" and then I would ask the others, "well, since you are not the leader, tell me what you are," my response to me is generally calm and even more dazed.

Sometimes they would say, "I've been working for a year," or "mine."

    position

    Lower. "

But this is not the answer I want to hear.

Next I will ask them: "do others see you? Do people around you see your actions, can you hear what you say? If others can see you, raise your hands, please."

At this time, all of us would quickly raise their hands.

Then I would say, "if others see you, you are the leader.

Others will see what you do, hear what you say, and they will think you know what you are doing.

    They will imitate your style.

Therefore, everyone is a leader, but some people do not know. "

In any company, all participants are

    Leader

But some people are consciously leading. Others do not realize this. They do not know that their actions, words and attitudes have affected others.

But the truth is that they do have an impact on others, but this effect is often not helpful or positive.

You can ask yourself: am I consciously leading or unconsciously doing so?

Whenever this happens, I will tell Jack, Welch, the former CEO of Ge, to those who attended the seminar.

Welch said: "in every team, every company and every seminar, there are three kinds of people: prisoners, passer by and leaders.

The key task of a manager is to leave the leader behind and remove the prisoners and passers-by.

Here, I want to talk to you about the difference between these three kinds of people.

    Prisoner.

These people feel trapped by their lives. They live as if they were survivors of a death march, but they are still walking when they are injured.

They prefer to do other things elsewhere, but they are "constrained by the environment" and feel that they have no other way out.

Their mantra is "I have no choice but to stay here. I have no choice."

They may also bring chains to themselves and moan while walking.

Prisoners complain most and blame most, but they do least in terms of positively affecting things that need to be corrected around them.

Many prisoners are very tolerant and even promoted.

    Senior post

But they are just playing with tactics or avoiding spotlights.

    This is regrettable and ironic.

Moreover, because others see them, others will imitate them, and such a system will soon be duplicated.

    Passer by.

There are many differences between traveler and prisoner.

However, their long-term impact on the company is quite similar.

In fact, passers-by simply "enjoy themselves here" and do not really take the job seriously.

They will try their best to make profits for themselves and try not to do anything for others.

They know how to profit from the system as much as possible for themselves, and always seem to wish they can get more.

They perfunctory work and drift with the flow - active in idle state.

They are good at "making good appearances, not making mistakes" and are always the last ones to shoulder more responsibilities.

If people can't see them, things will not be so bad.

But the problem is that they are very conspicuous, so there may be many people imitating them and their passers-by style.

So unfortunately, passers-by has established another passive way to lead others.

In some companies, however, passers-by will be promoted for some time.

    Leader.

Leaders are different from prisoners or passers-by.

Leaders come here. They are always looking for opportunities to change the situation.

They focus on helping and guiding people, not just what they can get.

They shoulder all responsibilities because they are happy to see that work is effectively carried out and are always ready to take on more responsibilities.

They like to solve problems creatively and welcome others to make suggestions.

Leaders will take a step forward for their goals, for the company's goals and for supporting others' goals.

They are optimists. The cups they see are half full, not half empty.

They believe in themselves and their values, so they can easily leave room to listen to others' opinions, offer their own advice or lend a helping hand.

They will not prove anything for themselves. On the contrary, they have foresight. They will ask, "I want to know if we can really put our minds on this, what can we achieve?" the positive energy emitted by leaders is attractive.

Therefore, many people follow their example and adopt the same positive style as they do, which is also reasonable.

After careful consideration of these three living conditions, you will be able to point out the direction of your life effectively.

If you find yourself behaving like a traveler or a prisoner, don't worry, just remember that your position is to be a leader and start with such a stance.

We are here not to show perfection, but to make progress.

In real life, most of the time we carry one of these three pairs of glasses.

If you try to see the world through "leader's glasses" in 30 days.

I assure you, you no longer want to look at your life as a traveler or a prisoner.

Using either of these three styles can lead others, but only one can change the world.
