Actively Respond To The Challenges Facing The Foreign Trade Environment
Foreign trade has been an important part of China's strong economic growth. However, after the outbreak of the international financial crisis, the western developed countries such as the United States began to grow the trend of trade protectionism, which caused great pressure on China's foreign trade. At present, despite the fact that the international financial crisis has basically been restored, the severe situation faced by China's foreign trade has not changed much. In the first half of this year, China's import and export decreased by 3.3% compared with the same period last year. Exit They fell by 4.7% and 2.1% respectively, although they improved in the third quarter of this year, but the growth rate of imports and exports was only 1.1%. These simple data are the direct reflection of pressure on China's foreign trade.
Over the past 30 years since reform and opening up, China's foreign trade has been growing at a high speed. In the early days of reform and opening up, China's export products were mainly some basic daily necessities. The cheap labor force made these products have the price comparative advantage in the international market, and filled the market gap in western countries because of the relocation of manufacturing industry. With the improvement of China's ability of independent innovation, China's exports also have high-end products, and become an important part of the international market. However, China's foreign trade development has always been associated with the boycott of western countries. They believe that the export products produced by China's labor price advantage have monopolized the western market, so they often initiate trade frictions against China on the grounds of anti-dumping and anti monopoly. Before the outbreak of the international financial crisis, such trade frictions only appeared in the partial scope of individual products, and did not affect the overall situation of China's foreign trade. However, after the international financial crisis, the United States and other countries began to push the Chinese products out of their own interests for the sake of their own interests.
China in foreign trade The pressure is not only due to the trade frictions initiated by western countries, but also because of the US dollar depreciation caused by the financial crisis for the sake of self-help, which has created a pressure of appreciation for several years, causing China's export enterprises to suffer long-term exchange rate losses. Originally, after many years of appreciation, the RMB exchange rate has been basically stable. However, when the economic situation just came to the turn, the United States promoted the appreciation of the US dollar by means of interest rate increase and pushed the RMB into the depreciation channel. On the face of it, the depreciation of RMB is good for our country. foreign trade Export, but because the RMB has not become a common currency in the international market, so devaluation also has a negative effect on China's export.
Since this year, the conservative trend of thought in western developed countries has been obviously strengthened. The success of the referendum in Britain has left the European Union in a crisis. The European market, which is plagued by the Middle East refugee problem, is also losing its ability to absorb Chinese exports. What is more serious is that after China's accession to the WTO 15 years ago, the main export sites of China, such as the US, Europe and Japan, insisted on not recognizing China's market economy status, but still tried to restrict China's foreign trade with an unfair "alternative country" approach. Trump, the US President designate, has threatened to impose a 45% heavy tax on Chinese exports during the election campaign, though it can be understood as just his campaign language, but with his strong xenophobic stance, China's foreign trade will face more pressure after its ruling, almost certainly. In the face of the trend of global conservatism, China must have the courage to face up to the challenges that the international trade environment poses to me.
China's economic growth has benefited from the growing demand in the international market. China hopes that the international market will continue to maintain friendly cooperation with China and promote the common development of China and the world. At present, there are still some uncertainties in the international market, such as whether WTO will accept unreasonable demands from the US, Europe and Japan. It is still undecided. China is carrying out active consultative dialogue with WTO and related parties. Things are not without leeway, and whether Trump will reject China's exports as he claimed during the campaign is still to be seen. No matter how changeable the international market is, China is no longer the poor and weak state before the reform and opening up. China, with its powerful economy, has enough capacity to deal with such challenges. At the same time, China's vast market has not been completely ignored by all countries. The road that has been passed in 2016 has proved this.
