    Yu Jianyong, academician and researcher of the textile science and technology innovation center of Donghua University, led the nanofiber research team to make important progress in the field of moisture absorption and quick drying functional textiles. The relevant results were recently published in the American Chemical Society nanomaterials,.

    In recent years, market demand for moisture absorption and quick drying textile materials with unidirectional moisture spanfer function is increasing. One way wet fabric can spanfer sweat and moisture from the body to the external environment, so as to achieve a quick drying effect and provide a comfortable micro environment for the human body. The preparation technology of the existing unidirectional wet fabric is rather complicated. At the same time, due to the smaller specific surface area of the traditional fiber, the moisture loss caused by the evaporation can cause poor wearing comfort.

    The bionics porous Murray one way wet conducting fiber membrane was prepared by electrospinning technology to construct tree branching network and surface energy gradient. Among them, the bionic tree like multilevel branching network integrates the macroporous micron hole submicron hole multilevel connected channels, which has a multilevel bifurcation structure similar to spanpiration effect of plants, and follows the Murray law to maximize the mass spanport principle. The biomimetic porous Murray membrane has self driving reversible gravity directional water conduction, fast suction and moisture release and excellent inner layer quick drying performance.

    The strategy proposed by the researchers to build biomimetic multilevel channels and surface energy gradient structure provides a new idea for the design and performance improvement of moisture absorption and quick drying micro nanofiber membrane materials. It is expected to replace the commercially available moisture absorption and quick drying fabrics, and achieve its wide application in high-grade functional clothing and medical materials.

    The researchers said that the multi-layer wetting structure of micro nanofiber membrane materials will be further optimized, and the directional spanport mechanism of moisture in the fiber membrane pores will be revealed. The application of this material in field military uniform, wound dressing, surgical gown, diaper and other functional textiles will be expanded.
