Video Conference Of The Board Of Directors Of The International Textile Manufacturers Federation Held

On December 17, the video conference of the board of directors of the International Federation of textile manufacturers (hereinafter referred to as "IFN") was held at 18:00 Beijing time. Members of the board of directors and successive presidents of the International Textile Federation attended the meeting.

The meeting was presided over by sun Ruizhe, chairman of the International Textile Federation and President of the China Textile Industry Federation. It mainly discussed the future development and key work of the International Textile Federation, the investment portfolio strategy of the international textile Union, and the industry projects led by the International Textile Federation.

This meeting is the first time that sun Ruizhe presided over the work conference of the international textile Union (IFA) since he took office. Xu Yingxin and Yang Zhaohua, vice presidents of China Textile Federation, Yuan Hongping, deputy secretary general and director of Foreign Affairs Office of China Textile Federation, and Yan Yan, director of social responsibility Office of China Textile Federation, attended the meeting.

In his opening speech, sun Ruizhe once again appreciated the trust and support of the board of directors, and said that he would work in accordance with the basic principles of the constitution of the International Textile Federation.

Sun Ruizhe said that at present, the global epidemic is still spreading, some countries and regions are facing the threat of the second wave of epidemic situation, and the road to world economic recovery is heavy. In this context, it is an important task for the International Textile Federation to maintain unity, focus on development, expand cooperation, and boost the confidence of industrial enterprises in various countries and regions on the development prospects of the world textile industry.

In his speech, sun Ruizhe expounded three suggestions on the work of the International Textile Federation when he took office on October 22, 2020: start the construction of think tanks; set up annual awards; and promote standardization.

Sun Ruizhe said that the three suggestions are based on the following considerations: first, inject new forms and contents into the work of the International Textile Federation to stimulate vitality and promote development; second, combine the short-term tasks and long-term goals to meet the industry expectations with pragmatic measures; third, gather actions to enrich the connotation of textile industry partnership in various countries and regions, and benefit industrial enterprises.

Speaking of next year's work, sun Ruizhe proposed that the International Textile Federation should set up and award honorary awards in 2021 to encourage the industry's best practices and outstanding achievements in scientific and technological innovation, management, social contribution and cooperation, and at the same time, start the construction of IFLA think tank.

On standardization, sun Ruizhe pointed out that standardization involves the integration, standardization, interests and cooperation of industry and enterprises. Promoting standardization has always been an important goal of the International Textile Federation. Especially in the past 10 years, in the field of standards, the International Textile Federation has carried out positive and beneficial exploration and practice, carried out a lot of effective work, and many projects are steadily advancing. In collaboration with the social labor integration project (SLCP), IFN is involved in leading the support of standardized data collection tools. Through the integration of Standards Initiative (SCI), the International Federation of textile is working with the international garment Federation (IAF) to reduce duplicate factory inspections. It is worth noting that the International Textile Federation is working with the German Agency for International Cooperation (Giz), the international garment Federation (IAF) and the Asian Regional Sustainable Textile Network (star network) on a project called "manufacturer's terms of payment and delivery", which aims to improve procurement practices in the global apparel industry.

Sun Ruizhe stressed that despite the technical complexity and the involvement of multiple stakeholders, standardization is still a long-term and targeted work of the International Textile Federation, and it is also an important focus of the International Textile Federation to help industry enterprises cope with the challenges facing the industry today.

Members of the meeting believed that sun Ruizhe's speech focused on the stability and sustainability of the International Textile Federation, and said in succession that under the leadership of the president, he would do his best to serve the industry well.

Xu Xudong (Taiwan, China), Herbert Schmidt (Brazil), Bashar (Pakistan), JAS Bedi (Kenya) and Cheng Qihe (Korea) attended the meeting.

The meeting decided that the next video conference of the board of directors would be held at the end of February or the beginning of March 2021.
