Whitman, President And Chief Executive Officer Of Ebay Company
Whitman has been in power for eBay for ten years. Ms. Meg Whitman joined eBay company in March 1998 as president and chief executive officer of the company.
Since then, under her successful leadership, eBay has become the global online marketplace and the world's number one consumer e-commerce website.
Ms. Whitman's expertise in brand building and her rich consumer technology experience helped eBay to take the lead in the new economy and foster a truly global market for the company.
Mr Whitman had previously been the general manager of the pre school Department of Haas Blo limited.
She is responsible for the global management and marketing of two world-famous children's brands - "Playskool" and "Mr. Potato Head".
During her term of office, Ms. Whitman was responsible for supervising the restructuring of the pre-school department, which eventually made a profit in return.
From 1995 to 1997, Ms. Whitman was president and chief executive officer of FTD (Florists Transworld Delivery), the world's largest flower product company.
During the FTD company, she supervised and turned a Florist Association into a profitable Private Held Company.
In addition, she planned to implement FTD's Internet strategy, set up a website (www.ftd.com), and let individual flower shops operate under the banner of FTD company.
Before the FTD company, Ms. Whitman served as the president of Stride Rite Department of Stride Rite company. She successfully promoted the series of Munchkin baby shoes, and successfully completed the repositioning of Stride Rite brand and retail store.
She was also the executive vice president of Keds and vice president of strategic planning group.
Ms. Whitman was inaugurated from 1989 to 1992, and was named Walt Disney vice president of Disney consumer products, due to her outstanding performance.
In the meantime, she was responsible for managing the key areas of Disney's main business, establishing vertically integrated Disney publishing business, setting up strategies for Disney to enter the book publishing industry, and leading the company's acquisition of exploration magazine.
She worked for 8 years at Bain San Francisco office and served as vice president.
Ms. Whitman began his career in P & G Cincinnati office and engaged in brand management from 1979 to 1981.
The praise of Ms. Whitman from all walks of life is numerous. It includes: in Fortune magazine, the second most successful women in 2001, rose from third in 2000; ranked fifth in 2001's best CEO's election in Worth magazine; Business Week magazine has been ranked one of the twenty-five most powerful business managers since 2000.
By the end of 2001, ninth of the world's twenty-five most influential CEO ranked by Time (Times) and CNN (CNN).
Ms. Whitman was a member of Goldman Sachs board and a member of Princeton University Board of Trustees (University).
Ms. Whitman received a bachelor's degree in economics from Princeton University and a master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School.
