    Technological Characteristics Of PTT Fiber Fabrics

    PTT Fiber Fabric

    PTT fiber is a kind of polyester fiber.

    Thermoplastic fiber

    It has melting temperature and glass pition temperature below PET fiber, and has a certain elasticity and soft handle.

    For fabrics containing PTT fibers, some dyeing and finishing processes, especially finalization, dyeing and alkali reduction, have their own characteristics.


    Predefined type: under wet and hot conditions, the mechanical properties of PTT fiber will change significantly, the initial modulus will obviously decrease and the elongation will increase greatly.

    Therefore, for the fabrics containing PTT fibers in high temperature and high humidity treatment (such as dyeing, wool dyeing and finishing), it is better to pre type the fabric to ensure the necessary dimensional stability and the mechanical properties of the fabric.

    Like most polyester fabrics, the fabric containing PTT fiber is generally relaxed at 100-130 degrees.

    Relaxation is zonal tension free shrinkage, and the extent of shrinkage depends on the size of elasticity to be obtained.

    When the temperature reaches 150 degrees, the feel of the fabric will be very rough.

    For fabrics that require extremely soft and large extension purposes, no predetermined type is required.


    Dyeing:

    PTT fiber

    Similar to PET fiber, their dyeing properties are similar. However, the low glass pition temperature and low modulus of PTT fiber make it easier to dye and dye than PET.

    Like PET fiber, PTT fibers are dyed with disperse dyes, and the best dyeing temperature is 110-115 C.

    The dye uptake at 100 C is equivalent to that of PET fiber at high temperature and high pressure.

    When dyed medium or light coloured, it is recommended to be dyed at atmospheric pressure.

    When dyed dark, it is recommended to dye at 110-120 C to enhance the penetration of dyestuff particles into fibers.

    The pH value of the dye solution is 7, that is, the neutral dye is the best.

    The dyeing time is closely related to the dyeing depth, and 30-60min can be obtained according to the type of dye.

    At 100, the dyeing time is 30-45min.


      

    Alkali decrement

    For the fabric containing PTT fiber for the purpose of soft handle, it is not necessary to reduce alkali treatment, because PTT fiber itself has extremely soft handle.

    However, for some fabrics with special requirements or fabrics blended with PET fibers, this treatment may be necessary.

    Shell company made a detailed experimental study on alkali decrement treatment process of PTT fiber fabric. The results showed that alkali concentration, alkali bath temperature and treatment time were the main factors affecting the weightlessness effect of PTT fiber, and the temperature had the greatest influence.

    The increase of alkali concentration, temperature and treatment time will increase the weightlessness rate of PTT fiber.

    For different weightlessness requirements, the above process parameters should be determined through small samples.


    Finalized: the purpose of stereotyping is to obtain good elasticity and dimensional stability, that is, to stabilize the state of fibers at relatively high temperatures.

    Compared with PET fabric, pure PTT fabric or high PTT fabric should be set at relatively low temperature. The heat setting temperature is best controlled at about 140-160 C and about 30 seconds.

    For PTT and other fiber blended fabrics, the specific implementation process should be determined according to the specific circumstances.

    For weft knitted fabrics containing PTT, if we want to get the zonal elasticity, we should try not to pull the width, or slightly pull 1cm.

    The important point is that the zonal stretching will reduce the zonal elongation but benefit the elastic recovery rate.
