Japanese Companies Lay Off To Deal With Financial Crisis
A Japanese survey shows that over the past 3 months, more than 1/3 of Japan's enterprises have taken layoffs or other measures to reduce labor costs and reduce expenditure in order to cope with the financial crisis.
According to reports, the all Japan Federation of trade unions surveyed 5201 local businesses. The results released on 10 showed that about 35% of Japanese companies cut labor costs by cutting temporary workers, reorganizing personnel or reducing overtime.
In this regard, manufacturing is particularly "positive". About 48.3% of manufacturers cut jobs to ease their own crisis.
The Federation predicts that in the next 3 months, more Japanese companies will take layoffs.
Thanks to the financial crisis, many well-known Japanese companies including Sony Corp have announced layoffs.
