Messi'S New Logistics Center Is Expected To Open This Summer.

In the age of electronic commerce, the old soup factory of South Sacramento has now become a distribution center.

In recent reports, Messi has confirmed that the company will create a network of 175 employees on the Campbell Soup Company on Franklin Boulevard.

At present, the existing equipment is moving to West Sacramento.

The newly expanded logistics center is the latest evidence that the traditional manufacturing industry is gradually declining and the retail industry is changing the economic structure.

Coincidentally, Australia's Orora Limited has recently set up a network logistics center on Campbell's former site, employing 30 workers to pack and distribute fresh food.

Messi said its warehousing and logistics center is growing larger and larger.

Amazon.com employs thousands of workers and uses state-of-the-art equipment to minimize the delivery time.

"The warehousing industry is one of the fastest growing areas of employment," said Michael Bernick, former director of the Vocational Development Council.

Last year, there were about 10000 workers engaged in warehousing in California, and the number of employees in this industry has reached 58000 since 2010.

At the end of 2013, Real Estate Company Hackman of southern California bought Campbell's facilities.

The acquisition took place in the months after Campbell's failure, and 700 high-income blue collar workers were fired.

Messi's new logistics center covers an area of 385000 square feet and is expected to open this summer.

In addition to Orora and the other two companies, nearly 60% of Campbell's territory is occupied by Messi.

Terri Carpenter, human resources development manager of the Sacramento employment and Training Bureau, said the soup factory paid more than $20 an hour to its workers.

But standard warehouse workers earn about $15 an hour.

Jim Sluzewski, a spokesman for Messi, said the salary of the new job would certainly be higher than the minimum wage.

The hourly wage is about $20.

And employees will have health care and other benefits.

Campbell factory is now renamed capital business center, and its investment manager, Ellis, said Campbell still has 400000 square feet of factory buildings for rent, half of which are old plants, the oldest built in 1945.

Carpenter said that some of the old manufacturing industries such as Campbell were either eliminated or moved overseas, and the rest began to shift to the "high technology and high precision computer assembly line".

This highly automated factory usually pays a lot of money, but employs less.

Last year, California's factories increased by 3000 jobs, but China's manufacturing industry still lost 200 thousand jobs before the recession.

Carpenter said that without training, many of Campbell's workers could not find new jobs.
