UNIQLO Business Site Was Attacked By Hackers About 500 Thousand Of Account Information Was Leaked.
With fashion brands embracing e-commerce and consumers increasingly inclined to online shopping, the safety of payment information has also attracted widespread attention.
According to Bloomberg news, fast fashion UNIQLO parent and Asia's largest retailer express sales group said Monday that its UNIQLO and GU brand Japanese official website was attacked by hackers, and about 500 thousand of users' personal information was leaked.
It is reported that hacker attacks occurred between April 23rd and May 10th, involving personal information including purchase history and some credit card numbers. At present, the company is still investigating the incident.
Xun marketing group emphasizes that this event is limited to Japanese websites and is a list based attack. When consumers use the same username and password combinations on multiple websites, they may suffer such attacks, so the group recommends that users change their passwords.
UNIQLO China responded to "fashion business Daily" that the incident does not involve China's website and information platform. UNIQLO strictly adheres to national laws and regulations in China, protects consumers' personal information and consumption data through strict management processes and technical means, and provides consumers with a safe shopping environment.
In fact, in recent years, the development of fast selling group has been increasingly inclined to the business of electronic commerce. As early as 2017, Liu Jing, chairman of Xun marketing group, put forward a "bright plan" at the shareholders' meeting, announcing that UNIQLO should be pformed into "digital consumer retail companies", that is, through cooperation with technology companies, all of them should be digitalized from design, production, manufacture, sale to full staff.
Ryui Masa said that UNIQLO's positioning is technology companies rather than clothing companies, so simple design and sales, coupled with simple technology applications, is not in line with long-term industry development.
On the contrary, we can improve the digital layout by means of science and technology, and bring better service while reducing expenditure.
Andrew Ross, an analyst at Barclays Bank in Germany, predicted that the electricity supplier will occupy 30% of the sales of clothing and footwear in the mass market in 10 years.
According to the annual report of McKinsey luxury digital marketing observation, the global online sales market share will double to 12% in 2020 and three times to 20% in 2025, or about 74 billion euros, making the electricity supplier the third largest luxury market in the world after China and the United States.
According to fashion headline data, XXX group's online retail sales accounted for 10% of the retail sales in Japan in the 6 months ended February.
UNIQLO also recorded strong growth in China's e-commerce business in the first largest overseas market. In 2009, it reached a cooperation agreement with Alibaba and settled in Tmall, and became the most popular clothing brand for double eleven shopping festivals. During the reporting period, the brand accounted for about 20% of China's e-commerce business, up 30% from the same period last year, pushing UNIQLO sales to 14.3% to 580 billion yen in the international market other than Japan.
GU sales growth has also benefited from the promotion of network marketing.
GU officially entered Tmall in August 2015. The price of the e-commerce platform is consistent with that of the entity store, and we understand the consumption behavior and consumption demand through the help of Tmall data.
Fast selling group is not the only clothing giant that has divulging user information in recent years due to hacker attacks.
In February 2018, the US sportswear brand Under Armour issued a statement that its sports App MyFitnessPal had 150 million MyFitnessPal user data leaked.
It is reported that the user data including user name, e-mail address and encrypted password affected by the data leakage incident, but did not involve user's social security number, driving license number and bank card number.
After the release of the news, Under Armour shares fell 2.4% after another.
In June 2018, Adidas said that some consumer data on its US official website could be leaked to unauthorized third parties, including data on contact information, user names and encrypted passwords.
However, Adidas did not immediately disclose the number of affected users and the time of data leakage.
It is reported that Adidas has launched an investigation immediately after finding the problem and has informed some consumers who are shopping in Adidas's official website.
Bloomberg reported in the report that while the electricity business is booming, consumer data security has become a problem that brands need to pay close attention to.
After the news, the Xun group today's share price fell 0.6% to 64 thousand yen, the market value is about 4 trillion and 542 billion yen, or about 283 billion 800 million yuan.
