Tibet Gyantse Pulu Appears At Paris Fashion Home Design Exhibition

Recently, a research and interview team with the theme of "casting a solid community, a Chinese family" and the theme of "snow covered plateau shining new" came to Ajiagesang Workshop in Gyangze County, Shigatse City, Tibet. As a Tibetan hand made wool fabric, Gyantse Pulu is famous for its exquisite materials and fine workmanship.

At the beginning of this year, it was unveiled at the 2024 Paris Fashion Home Design Exhibition, which attracted much attention. In 2023, with the support of the Shanghai Tibetan Assistance Cadre Liaison Group, the "Shanghai Craftsman" Guo Xiuling team will innovate and improve traditional production techniques, develop new textile machines, enrich style design, and open teaching centers in Gyantse and Shanghai after exchange and learning with the local people. At present, more than 300 people have been engaged in Pulu production. Each person will earn more than 4800 yuan per month. The "Xiema Pulu" produced in Gyangze County is the top grade, which uses the soft wool under the neck of sheep as the raw material. The knitting technology requirements are very high. In 2009, the "Gyangze Xiema Pulu knitting technology" was selected into the Tibet Autonomous Region level intangible cultural heritage protection project.
