After the Sino Japanese War of 1894-1895, Zhang Jian started the industrialization and mechanization of textile production with spinning machinery shipped from Britain. In the heyday of development, Dasheng Yarn Mill has built 4 mills, with 160000 spindles and 1342 cloth looms, respectively accounting for 7.4% and 9.8% of the total number of Chinese yarn mills in China, becoming the largest textile enterprise system in China at that time. After the founding of New China, Dasheng Group became a state-owned enterprise and was later restructured as Jiangsu Dasheng Group Co., Ltd.

The textile industry is a traditional labor-intensive industry. The traditional spinning requires 7 processes, including cleaning and carding. Each process requires a lot of labor. As the first smart yarn factory in China during the "14th Five Year Plan" period, the factory has a high degree of automation, and has built the first domestic digital spinning production line with full process equipment in China.
