    Integrating Environmental Education Into Chemistry Education

    Environmental protection is one of the three major problems faced by mankind today. We humans and natural environment depend on each other and make use of each other. Now, while industrial development brings material civilization to mankind, the discharge of various industrial waste water, waste residue and exhaust gas and the utilization of chemical fertilizers and pesticides also pollute the environment for human survival. Therefore, the quality of the earth's environment is related to whether human beings can continue to survive. Environmental protection has been paid more and more attention by various countries in the world, and environmental awareness has become an important part of contemporary human cultural quality. Therefore, as every educator, especially the educators engaged in chemical teaching, it is necessary to integrate environmental education into chemistry education in teaching. How can we infiltrate environmental education in our teaching? I think we should proceed from the following aspects:

    First, environmental education should be combined with teaching contents.

    We have many knowledge about environmental protection in Inorganic Chemistry and organic chemistry in our secondary vocational schools, so we educators should combine these knowledge with environmental protection education. For example, when talking about the knowledge of lead compounds, we can first give examples of lead poisoning. For example, in January 2006, Nan Su Village, Lushi Town, Lushi County, Sanmenxia, Henan, 380 of the 615 villages in the village were poisoned. All poisoned people suffer from loss of appetite, stomachache, insomnia, constipation, nausea, diarrhea, fatigue and so on, which directly threaten people's lives. The reason is that there is a lead mine next to it. When we talk about the combustion of hydrocarbons in organic compounds and carbon compounds, we can talk about the greenhouse effect and the harm caused by it. A large amount of carbon dioxide accumulates rapidly in the atmosphere, causing the global temperature to rise. The Arctic and the Arctic glaciers will be greatly melted, causing sea level to rise greatly. Some island countries and coastal cities will be flooded, including several major international cities such as New York, Shanghai, Tokyo and Sydney. When we talk about the knowledge of sulfur dioxide, we can tell them that most of the sulfur dioxide comes from coal and petroleum combustion and petroleum refining. The sulfur dioxide in the atmosphere will stimulate people's respiratory tract, weaken respiratory function, and lead to a decrease in respiratory resistance, inducing various kinds of inflammation of the respiratory tract, and endanger human health.     Two, combine reading materials with environmental education:

    There are many reading materials about environmental protection in our secondary vocational textbooks. We must not miss this opportunity to teach. For example, in the book "oxygen and sulfur", there are two reading materials related to environmental protection, namely, "sulfur dioxide pollution and prevention to the atmosphere" and "air pollution index (API) and air quality". Combined with these two reading materials, we can tell students about the annual sulfur dioxide emissions from the world into the atmosphere, about one hundred and fifty million million tons, which alone make my agriculture suffer from acid rain and lose 1 billion 500 million yuan annually. Moderately polluted air has a significant effect on sensitive physical populations. It may also cause eye discomfort, asthma, cough and sputum. When the air is heavily polluted, healthy people will also have obvious symptoms, reduce exercise tolerance, may lead to certain diseases in advance, and avoid outdoor sports. In the book "transition element", the reading material is "heavy metal pollution and prevention". Some industrial waste water contains mercury or chromium or cadmium. In 50s, residents in Kyushu Bay of Minamata, Japan, ate seafood and shellfish products contaminated by two Hg and organic mercury compounds, which caused more than 1000 people to be poisoned and more than 200 to die. The "Minamata incident" shocked the world. Therefore, before the discharge of industrial wastewater must be treated first, it is better to turn waste into treasure.

    Three. Combine environmental protection education with chemical experiments.

    Chemistry is a science based on experiments. In chemical experiments, we should also attach importance to environmental education and cultivate students' environmental protection from me. For example, when preparing toxic gases such as chlorine and hydrogen sulfide, the escaping gases often poison the air of the classroom and laboratory, and directly affect the health of teachers and students. We can put excess gas or poisonous gas generated in the reaction process through the catheter and then pass through a hanging funnel to enter the corresponding absorption liquid. At the same time, as far as possible, the production of waste residue and waste liquid can be minimized. In the process of experiment, paying attention to environmental protection problems can not only reduce environmental pollution, but also enable students to be subjected to intuitive environmental protection education.

    Four, environmental education should be combined with extracurricular activities.

    Environmental education can also be carried out in various forms and colorful extracurricular activities. We can organize students through visits and social surveys (such as visiting paper mills, cement plants, chemical plants, chemical fertilizer plants, etc.), so that students can understand the causes and Countermeasures of environmental pollution. To enable students to understand the relationship between environment and development, realize that environmental protection is a basic national policy of our country, and further understand the environmental regulations and policies of the state and local governments, and realize that destroying the environment is an immoral act and an illegal act.

    Five. Combine environmental education with elective courses:

    Our secondary vocational schools, after completing compulsory courses, have generally offered many elective courses to increase students' knowledge and broaden their horizons. In elective courses, we can offer some lessons on environmental protection, so that students can understand and understand the importance and necessity of environmental protection.
    In general, environmental protection education should start from childhood and start with me, so that every member of society will have a strong sense of environment.
