    China currently has 20% of the world's 9% cultivated land, which is a remarkable achievement. The pressure to ensure food security is increasing.

    Although China has attached great importance to energy conservation and environmental protection in recent years, great achievements have been made. However, in 2009, the proportion of five types of water quality in the seven major water systems in China was still 18.4%. China's sulphur dioxide emissions and carbon dioxide emissions rank among the highest in the world. Air pollution, garbage siege, industrial point source pollution and agricultural non-point source pollution are still serious problems.
