Judging from the comprehensive statistics of various cities, the output of silkworm cocoons in Guangxi has increased to a certain extent this year, and the output of cocoons in the whole country is likely to exceed 600 thousand tons.

Since the implementation of the East Mulberry shift project, Guangxi has been developing its strength in the cocoon and silk industry with its unique advantages. The area of mulberry garden has been constantly expanding, and the output of silkworm cocoons is also growing steadily. From 2005 to 2007, the development of silkworm cocoons has maintained rapid development. In the past 07 years, the output of silkworm cocoons in Guangxi has reached 205163 tons, accounting for a growing proportion of the whole country.

After 08 years of economic crisis, the sericulture industry in Guangxi and even the whole country has been greatly affected. Silkworm farmers are not making money by mulberry cultivation and silkworm breeding.

In 2009, with the gradual recovery of domestic and international economy and the relatively strong demand of the Indo Pakistani market, the demand for cocoons began to expand. Due to the serious phenomenon of silkworm mulching and mulberry destruction, the output of silkworm cocoons was also difficult to recover within a year. The purchasing price of cocoons in 2009 increased slowly, and increased the enthusiasm of sericulture farmers. Although there was a psychological shadow on the huge fall in 2008, many sericulture farmers gradually increased the size and intensity of planting mulberry sericulture.

In 2010, from the first batch of spring cocoons listed, the purchase price remained high, reaching 30 yuan / kg, and one Lu Pansheng even reached 40 yuan / kg.

Driven by high prices, sericulture's investment in sericulture is also increasing, so it is not impossible for Guangxi cocoons to achieve a restorative growth in 2010.

But why do we still have voices and opinions that silkworm cocoons are cut down this year? We notice that many of the silkworm cocoon reduction is from the purchasing side of cocoons. At the same time, the psychology of "buying up or not buying" will always exist in the market. The price increase itself means that the relationship between supply and demand is tilted to the supply side, regardless of whether the supply itself is increasing or decreasing.

When the price of cocoon gradually increased, many buyers maintained the price rise from wait-and-see to forced acceptance, which showed that the rise or fall of the cocoon price was still widespread. When the price of silk went up to the price of cocoon, the willingness of the manufacturer to purchase dried cocoons increased. In turn, the cocoon price continued to go up.

There is a controversy about whether cocoons are increasing production or reducing production in the market. The data of agricultural sector statistics are based on the analysis of raw data provided by various monitoring points in various parts of the country, which is more comprehensive and scientific than individual intuition.
