"When I joined Gerber 30 years ago, we were only the automatic cutting system. Supplier "Mr. Arthurs said:" at that time, Gerber sold 200 sets of cutting systems worldwide, and only 10 in Asia. Today, we also supply CAD system, automatic cloth spreading machine system and PLM system. There are more than 6000 customers in the Asia Pacific region. In fact, more than half of China's top 100 clothing companies rely on our solutions to help them from model design to cloth distribution. Cutting piece Cutting every link improves production efficiency.
In 1980, Arthurs predicted market expansion opportunities in the Asia Pacific region through statistical data and market research, and planned to enter the Asia Pacific market. He set up a distributor in Japan and set up an office in Hongkong to provide support for agents in other countries in the Asia Pacific region. He also established operations in Latin America, Africa and the former Soviet Union.
Starting from the application automation solutions of many enterprises, Gerber provides them with support to improve their productivity and profitability. "We grew up with dozens of small garment factories and helped them develop into millions of dollars," Arthurs said. "Compared with many other CAD/CAM suppliers who are active in the Asia Pacific region, Gerber is famous for its innovative products, and its stable and sustainable management team has always been praised. Many people are proud to work at Gerber and serve Gerber's customers for more than 20 years."
Gerber has 145 offices and distributors / distributors network in 129 countries around the world. "Gerber is always agile and forward-looking, and understands the importance of customers to our needs." Arthurs added. "The clothing industry has changed in many areas. Because our customers are keen on automation, we form partners with them to understand the challenges they face and provide solutions to help them start and maintain profitability. As they grow, our product solutions, operators and support capabilities have grown accordingly.
Arthurs predicts that the Chinese market will continue to expand. "At present, China produces about 300 billion dollars of clothing, accounting for more than 40% of global clothing production. Moreover, there are one billion and three hundred million people here, and domestic consumption is and will continue to be one of the main driving forces of clothing production.
To meet this demand, Gerber is expanding its manufacturing and engineering operations in China, and has appointed Tom Finn as president of the Asia Pacific region to continue to promote the company's commitment to the Asia Pacific region. "Tom and I will work closely together in the coming months to ensure smooth handover," Mr. Arthurs said with confidence. "The baton has passed, and I am confident that Tom's experience and commitment to customer satisfaction will continue to contribute to the development of the Gerber automation solutions in the Asia Pacific region. Behind him, there are also strong support from many of the staff who have led China's regional operations for decades.
Arthurs concluded: "many of the challenges facing the apparel manufacturers in the Asia Pacific region are many years ago that manufacturers in some parts of the world have experienced and overcome them. The cost of labor and materials is rising, and big brands have more demand for suppliers than ever before. The challenge is to produce more at lower cost, and at the same time improve quality. Such a requirement can only be achieved through application automation. Admittedly, trust built up by close interpersonal relationships over the past decades is a good foundation. Through hard work, we have developed good cooperative relations with our clients. They rely on our solutions to develop their own companies, nurture their families, and fulfill their family and social responsibilities. Therefore, we are indeed a light duty.
