India Businessmen'S Yiwu Resentment
"We have been unable to issue any information on this issue, and we will not be entangled with the false public opinion in India any more, depending on the Ministry of foreign affairs."
In January 5th, the responsible person of the Propaganda Department of Yiwu municipal Party committee of Zhejiang province said.
In December 2011, there was a private business dispute between India businessmen and local businessmen in Yiwu.
The matter was described by the India media as "two India trade personnel were illegally detained in Yiwu". The consular officers of the India Consulate General in Shanghai attended the court hearing in Yiwu and received "bad treatment" when providing consular assistance to the Indian trade personnel.
The incident turned into a diplomatic storm.
The Embassy in India issued a message on 3 th, warning all India businessmen not to do business with Yiwu, Zhejiang.
Speaking at a regular press conference in January 4th, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said that China has always attached importance to safeguarding the rights and interests of foreign trade personnel operating legally in China.
Two Indians have been placed in the guesthouse for free action. Local police have taken security measures to them.
The case is under further investigation.
An official at the scene of a local incident in Yiwu confirmed to the newspaper on 5 January that the incident was caused by a India diplomat who took the two Indians out of the courtroom during the court hearing in Yiwu, and was blocked by local business owners.
"They ran out of the court on the toilet."
"This is just a common business dispute, which has been heard by a local court in Yiwu."
The official who had visited the scene told reporters in January 5th that the general situation of the matter was that two India businessmen had defaulted on the payment of more than 10 million yuan of Yiwu enterprises, and that the Yiwu enterprises had failed to recover, and then they appealed to the court.
In the previous court hearing, two India businessmen had issued a guarantee of repayment. However, when the time limit for the guarantee was arrived, they did not repay the money. Instead, they turned to the officials of the Consulate General of India in Shanghai.
According to the Yiwu official, in December 31, 2011, an official of the India Consulate General in Shanghai met with the two India businessmen during the court hearing in Yiwu. After hearing the complaints and complaints of two businessmen, he decided to take them away.
The three men ran out of the court on the name of the toilet and were blocked by the Yiwu business owners who had been trapped at the gate.
Later, when officials in Yiwu heard the news, they saw the India diplomat sitting on the ground, claiming that he had been beaten. He also said he had diabetes and hypertension.
However, after examination, no signs were found and no "fainting" occurred.
This immediately caused a great stir in India.
The details of the matter vary so far. The general plot is that two India businessmen owe money to Yiwu businessmen and are assisted by the court to recover them.
The India diplomat went to Yiwu to "rescue" two people.
He is said to have diabetes, and print media said he was unable to eat and take drugs for 7 hours in court, resulting in fainting.
But Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said in January 4th that the statement was "inconsistent with the facts".
This is not the first time.
In fact, it is not the first time that business disputes between India merchants and Yiwu businessmen have escalated to diplomatic channels between the two countries.
As the largest small commodity distribution center in the world,
Yiwu
A collection of multinational businessmen, including Indians.
"There are more than 1000 Indians in Yiwu, and I know more than a dozen people."
In January 5th, a local businessman in Yiwu told the newspaper that most of the India businessmen they came to contact were relatively poor. They began to work in Yiwu and had limited financial resources. "These people could not pay Yiwu when they failed to get money from foreign customers.
market
It is also common for merchants and Yiwu manufacturers to pay their loans.
In 2010, a businessman in India was in arrears with many merchants in Yiwu, and merchants failed to get a lot of money. They found India businessmen. He still refused to pay for them. Merchants were furious, and he was buckled up and brought back the goods they found at the scene.
The incident triggered a protest by businessmen in India, and it continued to go to the diplomatic service. The consular side of India sent 6 notes to the Chinese side.
The media in India also followed up their concerns.
Finally, with the active mediation of the Chinese Foreign Affairs Department, India businessmen returned home safely after making up the payment.
In 2009, the Consulate General of the Ministry of foreign affairs of China in Mumbai issued a warning to Yiwu businessmen, saying that India illegal companies carried out their accounts in Yiwu.
Trade
Fraud, Yiwu businessmen supply 6 million yuan, but have not received payment, hope Yiwu businessmen vigilance.
In 2011, there was another incident in which Yiwu merchants went to India to urge the merchants to default on their payment, which was once detained by India police.
According to the aforementioned officials of Yiwu, our correspondent told reporters that in April 2011, three Yiwu merchants, who supplied bulk goods to the Indian capital enterprises and Shun (Asia) Limited, had the chance to learn that the Yiwu Office of the company and its Hongkong company were about to close.
They hurriedly contacted the company to recover the money they owed.
Yiwu's freight forwarders also try to contact the Indian merchants to recover shipping charges and export agency fees.
India businessmen's Yiwu resentment
At that time, Yiwu freight forwarder did not receive the ocean freight, and four container bills of lading were still not delivered to the Yiwu Office of the same company.
Two containers were shipped to Mumbai port about three months ago, and the other two were pported to Mumbai port about half a month ago.
Three merchants in Yiwu, who had been unable to recover the money from the Indian merchants, were escorted by a Chinese employee from the Yiwu Office of the same company and went to Mumbai printing merchants to recover their payment.
After the Yiwu merchants arrived in India, they still refused to pay the goods owed by the same company, and reported to the India police that there were four foreigners running in private houses to stir up trouble. This led the local police to bring three Yiwu businessmen and the Chinese employees of the same Shun company office back to the police station for investigation.
After the mediation of the Consulate General of the Chinese Ministry of foreign affairs in Mumbai, three Yiwu merchants recovered part of their arrears.
Just as the "Diplomat storm" took place at the same time, according to local media in Jinhua, at the end of November 2011, a India businessman named Ali fled to India after leaving 16 million yuan of Yiwu merchants' money. Before leaving, he would open the international roaming function in Yiwu's mobile phone number and charge a lot of telephone charges, so that the Yiwu people mistakenly thought he had never left China.
There are as many as 145 merchants in Yiwu who are in arrears with ALI, including jewelry, luggage, small household appliances, hardware and other industries.
After that, Ali had sent a message to Yiwu merchants, saying they would return to China in the evening of December 14, 2011 to give an explanation to the merchants.
But that night, Ali did not appear in Shanghai Pudong Airport at the same time, and simply turned off his cell phone.
At present, the Yiwu police have informed the Yiwu foreign affairs office that they will contact the Chinese Embassy in India as soon as possible to properly handle the matter.

"Stay in Yiwu"
Although there were many negative cases before, the India Embassy in China warned all India businessmen not to do business in Yiwu after the "Diplomat storm" occurred in January 3rd. However, the impact of the incident on trade between India and Yiwu merchants seems to be limited.
"As the largest small commodity distribution center in China, Yiwu welcomes businessmen from all over the world to engage in business activities."
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said on January 4th.
After the incident, a reporter from the local media in Jinhua, Zhejiang interviewed Ramesi, director of Yiwu India chamber of Commerce.
According to the reporter's report to this newspaper, Ramesi, 65 years old, is now the head of Yiwu Representative Office of Xi Cheng Co., Ltd.
Since 1964, he has gone to Indonesia, Thailand and China's Hongkong, Taiwan and other places to do business.
At the end of 2002, he came to Yiwu and stayed there.
At present, he mainly trades in stationery, gifts, shoes and artificial flowers, and his business is very large in India businessmen in Yiwu.
"I have been to many countries before. In 2002, a multi-year cooperative client went to Yiwu. He said to me, 'you must come to Yiwu.
With curiosity, I decided to take a field trip to Yiwu.
After arriving in Yiwu, I decided to take root in Yiwu, because the market in Yiwu is very large, the goods are very rich, the price is very advantageous, it can be said that it is cheap and fine, which is nowhere else. "
Ramesi said.
Ramesi said he also heard about India businessmen suspected of cheating goods, but he firmly believed that "this is only an individual phenomenon in India businessmen who are doing business in Yiwu. Most businessmen in India will be honest in business".
Ramesi said, this matter also reminds the vast majority of households in Yiwu market to pay attention to risk prevention when doing business with foreign businessmen, for example, they can collect a certain deposit and avoid credit as much as possible.
As for Yiwu's business environment, Ramesi said his own experience proves that Yiwu's business environment is not as rumoured as some people have said.
"I have been in Yiwu for 10 years, and I have never had any economic disputes with Chinese operators. The people of Yiwu and the government departments of Yiwu are very concerned and enthusiastic. They always put themselves in their shoes for us. Doing business in Yiwu is very safe. This is also the most important reason why I chose to stay in Yiwu.
Besides, the social order in Yiwu is very good. It doesn't matter if I go out shopping alone.
I will continue to do business in Yiwu in the future. "
Ramesi said.
