According to the staff of Hefei Supply and Marketing Cooperative, the cotton planting area in Hefei this year is about 289000 mu, down 16.5% from 346000 mu last year. Among them, the planting area of Changfeng County and Feidong County decreased by more than 20%, which is the main reason for the continuous decline of cotton planting area this year. According to the survey of the supply and marketing cooperatives, the cotton planting area in Hefei has decreased this year, on the one hand, because of the high planting cost and labor cost of cotton input, and this year, the national cotton purchase and storage guide price is lower than the psychological expectations of cotton farmers, many farmers have abandoned cotton planting.

On the other hand, this year's high temperature weather has become the biggest reason for the reduction of cotton production. In the north of Hefei, there were about 40 consecutive days of high temperature in July and August. The rate of shedding of buds and bolls was high in the flowering and boll bearing period of cotton, the weight of mature bolls was lighter than that in normal years, and the per mu yield of cotton decreased. It is predicted from the sampling monitoring data of outlets that the average cotton yield per mu in this year is about 220 kg, down 11.65% compared with last year. According to the current seed cotton purchase price of 6.4 yuan/kg, the income of seed cotton is lower than that of other cash crops.

The reporter learned that due to the recent good weather, the Fuqian Peach and Futao Peach have been basically picked. According to the data report of Chaohu Changlian Cotton Industry Company and Feixi Fine Cotton Industry Company, the cotton in Hefei this year is white cotton, but the lint percentage is not high and the length is short. At present, most regions of Hefei have entered the middle stage of cotton picking. With the support of Anhui Branch of China Agricultural Development Bank, 400 cotton enterprises in the region have sufficient funds to purchase. After the National Day holiday, they began to open up to purchase. Due to the different quality of seed cotton, the listed purchase price of enterprises is slightly different, and the daily purchase volume varies from 50000 kg to 200000 kg. It is expected that by the end of November, the enterprise can complete the processing, delivery and storage of seed cotton.
