Sustainable Clothing Alliance Issued New Standards To Promote Healthy Development Of Garment Industry

The Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) has issued a new evaluation standard, "Higg Index".

The Higg Index standard is formulated by SAC according to the existing industry environmental assessment standard, and is expected to better assess the impact on the society and environment in the process of garment production and sales.

Higg Index is not only used to measure whether all aspects of the apparel industry chain conform to the principle of "sustainable development", but also provides a more accurate reference for the enterprises concerned with long-term development and promotes technological innovation.

At present, the HiggIndex standard mainly investigates the following factors: water consumption and water quality, energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions, the use of chemical agents, and whether toxic substances are produced.

Sustainable Apparel Coalition is headquartered in the United States.

Its members include clothing brands, retailers, producers, industry experts and social institutions, such as Adidas, Gap, H&M, Martha general merchandise and WAL-MART.

It is committed to setting common goals and reducing the adverse impact of global garment manufacturing and sales on the environment and society.
