    Green Supply Chain CITI Evaluation Report Released: Textile Industry Overall Ranking Significantly Enhanced

    In October 25th, the public environmental research center (IPE) released the fifth annual report of the green supply chain CITI index in Beijing. It showed that the big data generated an innovative solution, which helped boost the green procurement of a group of Chinese and foreign leading brands.

    The CITI index, which first appeared in 2014, is the first quantitative evaluation system based on the performance management of brand supply chain in the world.

    Among the 306 brands covered by this phase, three were ranked among the top US companies, of which Apple Corp ranked first in 84 points, while DELL ranked second in 82 points, and Levi Strauss scored 76 points in third place.

    Ma Jun, director of the public environment research center, said that the top ten Levi, s, Nike, Samsung, Inditex and Taiji have linked their LOGO and suppliers' environmental performance through the map of green supply chain, highlighting their determination to strictly manage the supply chain environment.

    The brand of map annotation is also Esprit, New Balance, Gap Inc., Puma, Adidas and Tesco.

    This evaluation covers 142 brands in Greater China. The highest ranking brands are Foxconn, Yida and HUAWEI.

    HUAWEI has won the highest ranking brand in mainland China, and the group has also performed well.

    The four brands have entered the CITI index TOP30 list of the world's leading green supply chain.

    In the current evaluation, 38 brands began to try ecological chain management.

    The solution of network and automation saves the management cost effectively, and realizes the remarkable improvement of the efficiency of green procurement management.

    During the period of evaluation, domestic and foreign brands promoted 2458 suppliers in China to communicate with rectification and disclosure organizations and environmental protection organizations. 1206 of them confirmed their rectification compliance through independent third party audit, an increase of 280% over the same period, highlighting the significant growth of green procurement scale.

    At the same time, 25 leading brands such as Levi s and DELL also use eco chain tools to promote their direct suppliers to fully search their own supply chain, extending environmental management to chemical fiber, chemical dye auxiliaries and other chemical products, aluminum alloy, special steel, copper foil and other raw material supply chain links, as well as centralized sewage treatment facilities and hazardous waste treatment and disposal providers, and promoting these industrial enterprises to continue to focus on their environmental performance.

    This evaluation report suggests that government departments should push enterprises to implement information disclosure requirements, attach importance to the main role of enterprises in the construction of green supply chain, and promote the good practices of leading enterprises to more industries.

    At the same time, it is suggested to draw lessons from Chinese and foreign brands to promote green procurement by governments at all levels.

    It is suggested that more Chinese and foreign brands enhance the efficiency of green chain management by means of data and networking tools. It is recommended that financial institutions incorporate green supply chain performance into green finance considerations. At the same time, the three parties, such as mass media and environmental protection organizations, are suggested to give more recognition to enterprises that actively carry out green chain construction and guide consumers to practice green consumption.
