It is a multifunctional field around planning, budgeting, organizing, commanding, controlling, coordinating and training around information, information technology, information personnel, information equipment and other related resources.

Strategic information management itself is a unified research field and theoretical system. It consists of three parts: interrelated information technology management, information resource management and electronic commerce management. This process is also the process of enterprise informatization. Information resource management is the core of strategic information management. Network business management is the extension of strategic information management, and the information of traditional business. Strategic information management is also a process based on information strategy. It consists of three links: information strategy formulation, information strategy implementation and information strategy control.
